Online education is becoming increasingly popular and in demand. Courses offered by online schools and bloggers promise accessibility, convenience, and quality learning. However, as in any industry, there are times when a buyer may want a refund for purchased programs. In this article, we will look at the legal aspects of refunds for online courses in Russia and the conditions that can be applied in various situations: if the course has not yet started, is already in progress or has ended.
Legislation of the Russian Federation and refund of funds
The issue of refunds for educational services is regulated by several laws and regulations, including the Civil Code of the Russian Federation, the Federal Law “On the Protection of Consumer Rights,” as well as legislation on education. According to Article 32 of the Federal Law “On the Protection of Consumer Rights,” the “student” has the right to refuse services at any time before the execution of the contract and demand a refund of the amount paid for it if the quality of the materials is not satisfactory, the course was not completed for good reasons, or the person changed his mind.
