Evaluation of intellectual property in Russia through the eyes of an American student

On August 1, a presentation of a report by an intern from the United States, a student at Yale University, Joel Knopf, on the topic “Assessing the value of intellectual property” took place. In his report, he spoke about three stages of assessing the value of intellectual property – approval of property rights to IP, competitive analysis, and the so-called freedom of action analysis. He focused on how the company can increase revenue from its IPO portfolio. Joel Knopf also explained how a law firm can most effectively conduct an IPO valuation in the stressful context of a merger or acquisition transaction. Joel interned at the law firm Levant and Partners for two months, and according to him, an internship at a Russian law firm is the first step towards becoming a qualified lawyer specializing in Russian law.
