As you know, this day has been celebrated in Russia since 2003 on the initiative of the UNESCO Chair in Intellectual Property. The celebration of this event emphasizes the role and value of innovation for the modern development and improvement of Russian society. We understand and appreciate the significance of the establishment of this holiday by the General Assembly of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
Intellectual Property Days will be held in Moscow from April 23 to 26, Russian Minister of Culture and Mass Communications Alexander Sokolov said at a press conference on Tuesday. The main goal of the action is to draw attention to the problem of strengthening legal protection and rational use of intellectual property.
The central event of the days will be the Second All-Russian Forum “Intellectual Property of Russia – 2008”, which will be held from April 23 to 25 at the International Trade Center.
The emblem of Intellectual Property Days in Russia will be a stylized daisy on a green background. As explained by the Minister of Culture and Mass Communications of Russia Alexander Sokolov, the chamomile symbolizes spring, the green color symbolizes UNESCO, and each petal symbolizes the protection of copyrights, the rights of inventors and others.
