On March 20, in the building of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, a parliamentary hearing of the Committee on Natural Resources, Environmental Management and Ecology was held on the topic “Prospects for improving Russian forestry legislation in terms of attracting investments in the timber industry complex. The law firm “Levant and Partners” was represented at this event by lawyer Alexey Delba.
Recently, significant work has been done to stimulate the investment process in the timber industry, namely, the Forestry Code of the Russian Federation has been adopted, import duties on imported high-tech equipment and export duties on all wood processing products have been abolished, and a schedule for a gradual increase in export duties on unprocessed wood has been adopted.
But now there is a need to make specific decisions on the creation and implementation of effective partnership mechanisms aimed at developing the forestry sector. The goal is to ensure a balance of interests of modern business, the state and citizens of the Russian Federation.
