On September 26, the American Chamber of Commerce in Russia seminar “Tax reforms in Russia: where are we?” was held in the hall of the Marriott Grand Hotel. A representative of the Levant and Partners company, tax consultant Roman Margulis, took part in this event.
The central and most memorable event of this event was the speech of the Deputy Minister of Finance of the Russian Federation Sergei Dmitrievich Shatalov, who highlighted the latest changes made to the Tax Code. The speaker identified 2 trends in the development of the tax system in Russia: control over transfer pricing and consolidation of reporting for vertically integrated companies (the bill is planned to be published by the spring of 2008). According to him, by 2009 it is also planned to develop a bill on the registration of VAT payers, and at the same time it is planned to reduce their number from 3 million to 300-400 thousand taxpayers.
Among the leading companies in the field of tax consulting at the seminar were Ernst&Young, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Deloitte, etc.
The law firm “Levant and Partners” plans to continue to participate in such events, since participation in them is essential for the exchange of experience in the tax field and for understanding the main trends in the development of the tax system.
Tax reforms are just around the corner
